The Second installment of fantastic quilts from Quilt Con 2026
I have another photo dump for you! I apologize some of the photos are not straight. It was so crowded it was hard to get a good photo of everything I saw. You can definitely catch the winners on the QuiltCon website.
Now I'm going to say something here that not everyone will agree with. But it's my blog and I can say what I want, right? I had a discussion with my sister about this. She is also a trained artist. I found that many of the quilts (esp. in the Minimalist category) were ahem, boring. I think there is a way to make a minimal quilt interesting, so that you don't just look at it once, sigh, and walk on by without a second look. Just because a quilt is "modern" or "minimal" doesn't mean it has to be so sparse that is lacks imagination. For example: This one by Susan Skatoff. It's minimal but somehow still interesting.

Okay, I said my piece, now on with the show...

And for a bit of whimsy, that one above and this one below:

I hope you all have enjoyed this show as much as I did. I was definitely inspired to go back to my studio and create. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers at QuiltCon that made it all possible.
Would love to hear your thoughts about my Minimalist rant and any other questions you have about your art quilting practice.
All my best for now,
