Kathy Baumann I really enjoyed your class and your suggestions!

I finally finished my quilt from class. Thank you Roxane Lessa for all your help and encouragement! It is far from perfect, but I am happy. It’s a first of many things for me including painting, heavy thread painting, confetti quilting, using tulle, using beads and finishing with a facing. Now to decide what my next project will be.

I FINALLY finished my shellscape- kept adding to it, And saying “no, not done yet, needs something more”. Each shell is individually painted on various fabrics, then thread painted the spirals. I painted the sky and sea fabrics, used separated six strand embroidery floss to make the waves foundation, then fmq over that. Added some clear beads for a bit of sparkle. FMQ'd the whole thing, including the sand. Lots of beading on the beach and around the shells. In The lower right corner, the seaweed is a piece of tatting that I made a long time ago - I painted it and added beads and shells to create a tangled in the seaweed look. Thanks to Roxane Lessa for your support and help, and to my sweet husband Mark for providing helpful feedback- when asked for. I am pleased with how this turned out. It measures 28x16”.

This is the quilt I started in Roxane's class earlier this year. I analyzed for weeks about some changes I needed to make (with great advice from friends) and made the final stitches last night. I see so many things I would do differently now, but that is what taking a class is all about, right? Time to move on to the next idea floating around my head. "Amsterdam" 23in x 39in.
